    JOB VACANCY: Media Relations Coordinator

    For Large New York-based Local Union

    Reporting to the Director of Communications, the coordinator’s primary responsibility will be to provide the Union’s organizing campaigns and special projects with media relations support, and in that role, serve as the Union’s point of contact to print and broadcast media. Duties include: Daily news media monitoring, press release and advisory drafting, coordinating paid media, event planning and staffing and pro-active press outreach.  

    Minimum Requirements
    3+ years media relations experience, including past experience on a political, labor or issue-based campaign. Track record in pro-active media pitching. Capacity and willingness to travel on short notice. Long hours and occasional weekends.           

    Preferred:

      ·       Experience working for/or covering City, State or Federal government.
      ·       Knowledge of legislative and political process.
      ·       Commitment to economic and social justice, including workplace issues, as well as interest in health care, pension and wage issues.
      ·       Experience working for/or with organized labor.
