Policy Analyst, Urban Affairs

Drum Major Institute for Public Policy

The Drum Major Institute for Public Policy is a non-partisan, non-profit
think tank generating the ideas that fuel the progressive movement.
From releasing nationally recognized studies of our increasingly fragile
middle class to showcasing progressive policies that have worked to
advance social and economic justice, DMI has been on the leading edge of
the public policy debate. DMI is also noted for developing new and
creative ways to bring its work to the advocates and opinion leaders
that need it, from starting one of the first public policy weblogs to
pioneering the use of Google Adwords to hold elected officials
accountable for their votes on issues of importance to their
constituents.

About the position:

DMI seeks a researcher and policy analyst with a specialty in urban
affairs. The Policy Analyst for Urban Affairs will be responsible for
researching, monitoring and analyzing model progressive urban policies
from across the country. In the process, s/he will interact with local
actors from across the country to both inform and guide the research
process, and to ensure that the final research products are useful to
on-the-ground actors, including current and aspiring policymakers and
influencers.

The ideal candidate has experience in city government and so understands
how municipal policy is formulated and influenced. This is a new
position that offers significant flexibility and room for creativity for
a policy analyst, but also requires project management and outreach
skills. The Policy Analyst will work within our Research team, and
